Design motif

This design incorporates a hand-drawn illustration style to highlight the beauty of Japan’s changing seasons, with a focus on expressing atmosphere and emotion through subtle texture and color. Japan, being an island country, has a culture deeply connected to the shifting of the seasons. This piece specifically captures the rainy season (tsuyu), a time when hydrangeas bloom and the air is filled with moisture and a quiet sense of transformation.

Although this period is often associated with gray skies and a somewhat heavy mood, I wanted to emphasize the positive side of this transitional time—especially for many university students and graduates, as it marks the beginning of their job-hunting journey. Rather than creating a dark or somber composition, I used soft lines and a bright, colorful palette to evoke a feeling of calmness, hope, and emotional resilience.

For the Tokyo-specific motif, I initially considered Hachiko, a well-known symbol of Shibuya. However, I ultimately chose Tokyo Tower because of its strong architectural presence and personal relevance to me—it's located near my university and often appears in my daily life. As one of the most iconic structures representing Tokyo, it adds both a personal and cultural anchor to the design.

Through this illustration, I aimed to create a visual narrative that gently blends emotional storytelling with symbolic imagery, offering a quiet encouragement to those starting new chapters in their lives.
